Adobe Photoshop CS3 - The great graphic designing tool

Posted by: Exquisite  /  Category: Review: Products

In my opinion, Photoshop CS3 is a best graphic designing tool for all ages. As a 13 year old graphic designer, I have lots of experience with my Photoshop. It’s really easy to use especially you already use the minor photo editors like Gimp, Photoscape and more. Photoshop CS3 helps me to make money by myself it really helps me a lot. Especially this vacation I earned big bucks by graphic designing with my Photoshop.

Photoshop has a lot of excellent features. I’ll just demonstrate for you “some of the features of Photoshop”
Like the ‘text tool’: If you use the text tool effect it is not just an ordinary text you’ll see in other graphic tools. It has very rare cool effects, Like drop shadows, stroke, outer and inner glow, bevel and a lot of more!

The filters. Filters has a lot of very uncommon awesome effects. Stylize option that includes: painting, sumi-e, mosaic, texturizer, stamp and a lot of more, The different kinds of blur, The picture lens and a lot of more too. I can’t mention it all since my Photoshop is not open.

The Animation window. The best one you doesn’t need Adobe Imageready to make an animation. Animation window is built in and easy to use but it’s a manual animating too you need to drag and put somewhere to animate, it’s easy to use if you read tutorials!

The pen tool It is a great tool to make vector images easier than ever. You may got complicate but it’s easy, I tell you.

The lasso tool. It’s a great tool in making blends and or whatever you like to cut or crop. Now I already to tell you some features of Photoshop Cs3. I apologized that I can’t mention all of the features, because my CS3 is not open and it will make my PC kinda slower.

I therefore conclude that Photoshop CS3, is the best Graphic designing tool in the universe, and it’s easy to use!

Advantages: Easy to use, more creative features, really great product results, has a built in animation window

Disadvantages: Expensive price, other features are really complicated.

Re: Twilight (2008)

Here is my review of the Twilight Movie.

As iBella said in the previous post, it’s better to watch the movie first before reading the book, since the book is just so much better.

I read the book first so I had a lot of complaining to do.
The part where Bella walks into the classroom where Edward is for the first time, Edward covers his nose and mouth. I know he needs to block the smell but that’s way too obvious. Can’t he just hold his breath or something?
They also didn’t make Edward say “Do I dazzle you?” and they changed the “You’re exactly my brand of heroin” line a bit. These are 2 of the readers’ favorite quotes from the book, I understand the movie shouldn’t be exactly the same, but it’s better to leave those lines alone.
Jasper looked constipated the whole movie, even though this is probably the Jasper they want him to be in the movies, it’s just weird to me.
When they go to the prom and they take a picture at the arch with their dates, there are still people behind them so when they look in the picture there should be other people lining up for their picture right behind them. That’s not very realistic is it.
In the ending, they showed Victoria, all evil looking. But in the books, Victoria only shows up in Eclipse, not New Moon. Now, they’re just giving the directors, writers and producers of New Moon a hard time since they have to put that somewhere unless they want it just hanging there until Eclipse comes out.

The movie was really good though if you ask anyone that hasn’t read the books yet. Some who read the books think it’s really and others would completely hate it.

Overall it was a pretty good movie…with flaws.

Sovereign Ladies: Sex, Sacrifice, and Power (2008)

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Review: Books

Summary:

Six women have sat on the English throne as sovereigns in their own right, not simply as consorts of kings. Waller cogently and perceptively prepares a sequence of profiles of Mary I, Elizabeth I, Mary II, Anne, Victoria, and Elizabeth II, in which she imparts, in professional but eminently clear prose, these half-dozen women’s essential personal qualities, at the same time linking their stories by the thread of their common dilemma: having to, as a female sovereign, reconcile womanhood with performing on the “job” as would a male ruler.

Thoughts: Detailed accounts of the lives of the six women who ruled England not as a consort, but in their own right. Each monarch gets her own section, chronicling her life from birth to death. I found this to be a very interesting read, but felt it faltered towards the end with her current Highness’s section. On one page, she’s barely married and coronated, on the next it is suddenly more than forty years later, after the death of Diana. There was very little on her actual reign, unlike the other ladies chronicled here. I felt it detracted from the overall appeal of the book, but is not worth witholding recommendation over. The lives of the other queens are very interesting reads and well worth the time that will be spent to finish.

Helen of Troy (2006)

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Review: Books

Summary: The story of Helen of Troy–in her own words.

Thoughts: The novel is a wonder for the senses. You can almost smell the roses that permeate the air when Aphrodite is near. You can hear the sounds of battle in the city down below. You feel the lightest touch of a Goddess as she passes, or was it just the gentle night breeze?

This book recounts the story of the infamous Helen of Troy (formerly of Sparta) from her early life when she was forced to wear a veil and never see her own reflection to the very end of it, many years after the war that destroyed a nation. Her forty suitors, her marriage to Menelaus, her fateful meeting and escape with Paris, and the resulting war are all covered in the incredibly detailed novel. It also provides a different perspective on such historical heroes such as Odysseus and Achilles. Perhaps they were never really heroes. History chooses it’s heroes, and history is chosen by the victors…

Wanted (2008)

Wanted Poster

Summary:

A frustrated office worker learns that he is the son of a professional assassin, and that he shares his father’s superhuman killing abilities.

Thoughts: Yet another one of those summer movies that are all style and no substance. The plot was completely implausible (My dad is a famous assassin, really? I can now suddenly make bullets curve in cool ways with absolutely no training!). The writers failed very hard at their attempts to be cool. In the scene with the keyboard, the letters spell f–k you with the keys. There is only one u on a computer keyboard. Fail.

Morgan Freeman playing essentially the same character as the one in the Nolan-verse Batman movies, only much more cryptic and a bit creepy, could not save this movie. Angelina Jolie being her typical hot action movie chick self, could not save this movie. The great soundtrack could not save this movie.

This was one of the very few movies I’ve turned off partway through. Luckily I acquired it through a free RedBox rental code and didn’t have to pay for it. I still want a refund, though. :) I only recommend it if you just want escapism and cool action sequences.

Smart People (2008)

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Review: Movies

Summary:

Lawrence Wetherhold is miserable and misanthropic: he’s a widower, a pompous professor at Carnegie Mellon, an indifferent father to a college student and a high-school senior, and the reluctant brother of a ne’er-do-well who’s come to town. A seizure and a fall send Lawrence to the emergency room where the physician, a former student of his, ends up going on a date with him. His daughter, Vanessa, lonely and friendless, who’s been bonding with his brother, tries to sabotage dad and the doctor’s relationship, but Lawrence is good at that without help. Is there any way these smart people can get a life? Can happiness be pursued beneath layers of irony?

Thoughts: Two words: unnecessarily bitchy. All of the characters are overly snarky and sarcastic, making it hard to like or even sympathize with any of them. At times the plot feels contrived. The doctor who treats him Wetherhold just happens to be one of his former students. Not only that, but one who didn’t meet up to his exacting standards and is still smarting about it many years later? Ellen Page is adorable as always, although her relationship with her uncle is a bit creepy at times.

Overall, it felt for the most part like a typical romantic comedy. Two people meet. They shoot verbal barbs back and forth, building up the sexual tension. Then they begin a relationship only to find interference from within and others around them. They persevere as a couple a bit longer, only to fall apart over some minor misunderstanding that is blown out of proportion. Finally, there is a reunion at the end with an embrace and a promise (?) of happily ever after.

A bit disappointing, as I expected much more from it, but not the worst by far.

Review completed 19 January 2009.

First Impression/Layout

Your layout is rather awkwardly positioned on the center-left of my screen. I recommend moving it to center. The layout itself is nice. Simple, but not boring.

Looking at the sidebar, I’m not a fan of the centered text. Sentences break in the middle and the entire thing is one small-fonted block of words. Maybe increase the font a bit, break it down into paragraphs, and get rid of the centered layout. Your Cbox is cutting off part of its bottom links. Spaces are needed in the link More credits&useful links.

“Content Management Powered by Cutenews.” Oh, no. Cutenews is an incredibly insecure script that is easily hacked and is no longer being supported by its creators. I recommend something like FanUpdate instead. It’s more secure and you can integrate it into an existing layout as well.

FYI, asking people to click the ads is a violation of Adsense’s TOS. They’ve been known to delay or deny payments to those who do that.

Domain

The link to home is redundant as it’s already on your top menu. Why is there a random ~ at the end of Apply for Affie?

There needs to be an “a” in front of graphic, graphic should be graphics, there should be spaces between Jenny & Kim. Holy run-on sentence, Batman! There are several ways this could read, just break the first sentence into parts. An old what? Friend? Foe? Flame? :) There were several. The definitions of “flip” and “beat” feel a bit unnecessary.

On the apply for affies page, proper nouns like Google, Myspace, etc need to be capitalized. Absolute should be absolutely in this context. Why only Google Ads? There are other decent (and more profitable!) ad servers out there that don’t do nasty things like pop-ups, pop-unders, and malware.

On the “Jenny” page, the phrase “I’m born on September 14, 1997″ reads awkwardly. There needs to be space between web & graphics. Neopets should be capitalized. Yay! another MSI fan! What’s your favorite song by them? Use to play should be used to play. You have a list of likes and dislikes. Why do you feel these way about these things? Expand on at least some of them. People’s reasonings are always much more interesting than a simple list. Space needed between Dresses and Skirts and theives should be thieves. The quiz results below look very ad-like and are in fact ads given that two of three have links to “Buy Acai Berry or similar attached to the ad result.

About Phoebe goes back to the home page. Maybe remove this link until the page is completed?

The exit page is also rather redundant as it is on the top menu as well.

Services

As you’re offering more than one service, make it plural on the services page. Where would the site link be on the advertising page? Also, advertisers usually want to see what sort of traffic you get before they buy. Linking to an Extreme Tracker or a screenshot from another hit tracker is popular.

Content

*Insert standard ramble about why it’s not a good idea to use copyrighted images here* Other than, there’s not a lot to comment about here. Pretty standard content fare.

Tutorials

In the Basic CSS tutorial, b and i are deprecated. Use strong and em instead. I’ve noticed that you say email me a lot. I think it would be helpful for you to install a contact form that visitors may contact you at and remove your email links. Bots trawl the net looking for email links to harvest and place into spam mailing lists.

Fun

There should be a space between Fun & Entertainment. The Twelve Days of Christmas idea was cute and I hope that you do it again next year and that more people participate!

TDOC

Same link as the one in your “Fun” section. This should probably be removed from your top menu as the event appears to be over.

Exit

A bit of a misleading term, as exit pages generally are links out to other sites. maybe rename this to Link Us or similar. The buttons you have up are cute.

In Conclusion

A rather good site, in need of minor improvements. Fix the small stuff, maybe replace the celebrity stuff with original creations, and you’ll be well on your way to great.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Review: Movies

Zack and Miri Poster

Summary:

Lifelong platonic friends Zack and Miri look to solve their respective cash-flow problems by making an adult film together. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.

Thoughts: If only this movie was half as funny as my fellow theatergoers thought it was. Although, I did see this movie in a theater that served alcohol, a service that most of the patrons were partaking in. Had I joined them, perhaps this movie would have been more enjoyable.

Not that it was a horrible movie. It wasn’t. It just was not as good as the various things I had read and heard about it had lead me to believe. It tried to be college humor and romantic comedy simultaneously and ended up failing at both. There were hints of chemistry between the romantic leads, but overall, it just felt forced. There was no real resolution to the plot other than the typical romantic comedy standard reunion after the contrived misunderstanding (although the location of said reunion differed a bit). The movie within the movie became an afterthought, it’s eventual fate unknown.
